CORE Questionnaire #5

My answers must be prefaced with the disclaimer that i am new to the program and have not had the required time to process all names and titles. this is in fact my first viewing of items in this program.

1) My favourite scenes from this chapter would be all the scenes that contained parasitic possession. if i had to elaborate i would pick the first infestation scene as an introduction to the parasite, i don't in fact think that the briefing scene was neccisary or at least i don't think it should have been as expositional as to what the parasite was; a briefing saying that there were three criminals at large and they needed to be taken in for questioning at all costs would have sufficed with later explanation from infected indaviduals throughout the comic.
The second choice would be the transferal of the parasite from Doctor York to Tammy, i thought this scene was well paced and tookgood care to show the pleasure of the scene with the climax fitting in perfectly.
My third pick would be the scene where Doctor York and Tammy take over Lilix while two parasite hosts made in the containment unit. the exposition in this scene worked but it felt a little forced, and while i did enjoy the scene, i feel it could have been longer, and shown more of the aftermath witrh lilix infected too and maybe york being bread as she was the first host in core.
My absolute favourite scene was the breeding facility scene, and while i do think it could have been longer with more content as explained in point 3, it was still my favourite, with good visuals and action to develop the design of the parasite.

2) My prefered type of mind cotrol parasite is a 3/4-A/C, where the hosts mind is fully intact and willing but perminantly edited, and the parasite starts by fully intergrating with the body, slowly converting it into a different organism over a period of time. the only references i can give for this style of parasite and infestation is one i am currently developing but have not posted online as of yet.

3) I would have liked to see more content in the breeding facility and in the commander's office, for instance, the two operatives watching the egg laying, Rossi is obviously controlled by either the parasites or the hive as she can access doors and seems not fazed by the breeding taking place in front of them, it would have been the perfect time to take over the other Czernik, have another egg lain and the worm inside it used to infect Czernik. instead we are left a hint that the scene would continue, but it cuts away. a similar thing happens with the infection of the commander, her infection would have been good to see, with her being overpowered and infested by the parasite and parasite controlled operatives. it would also have been better to see more breeding of the core operatives between then and the later reveal, maybe even is a larger mating scene and more of the operatives at the end being pregnant. Additionally it did not make since for Rossi to destroy the parasites if the hive already controlled them; along this line of thinking an alternative ending would have been interesting where the hive is using these parasites to control the city, section by section.

4. The only real question i have is why did the hive use the parasites to begin with and/or why did they kill them off at the end, with the parasites active they had full control over the investagative law in the city, instead of using this as an asset the hive instead destroys the parasite by using Rossi and she transfors the three 'criminals' to the hive drones for use as 'material' i am lead to question why this occured.

5) There weren't any that stood out, other than the general theme of feeling better when the parasites take over the body. and the licking of the lips of infested indaviduals upon infection. i feel that exposition could have been handled in these moments throughout the story instead of in the afrementioned briefing though.

6) I would like to see either these parasites return or at the very least a version of them, that is running amok in the city and that core need to shut down, this would again allow for more 'bodysnatchers' themes however maybe with more of a defined will behind them, trying to hid in plain sight rather than spready as quickly as possible, like they learned from the first encounter and have adapted to become stronger. maybe even changing to a 4-C rather than a 4-D.

7) As stated with point 6 i feel these parasites or a developed version of them should return in a future issue, there are a perfect seldome occurence to set up a 'big bad' as it were for the series, or even if they got a side story, as an alternative ending with the Hive spreading it's control throughout the city using these Parasites as a means to gather more 'material' directly.

8) While I do prefer larger releases for more story elements sometimes shorter releases can be used effectively to set up stories or show hoiw they are progressing in the background. This parasite lends itself to both large and small releases being able to show bodysnatcher themes and paranoia in the longer releases. and background shows like zooming in on a stree from a future release to show something sinister happeing out of core's sight.
Core 12 is around 200 pages long; for a starter of a new storyline i think that is perfect, other releases in this parasite's stroy could be scenes from the breeding facility and the commander's office etc... lasting maybe only 10 to 20 pages at maximum, and larger more story heavy content could follow more along core 12's lines of 150 pages on average.
having a selection or block of shorter stories mixed into the stream of larger ones would allow the larger ones to be developed over longer periods and either have more content, more quality or a mix of both.
Do i think that shorter stories or longer ones are better than the other? No. it depends on the stories themselves. there are many short stories that are fantastic and many that are not and the same with longer ones.
From what i have seen here, both the artist and the writer have the ability to do great things with both long and short stories, i cannot wait to see what you two come up with.
